Architecture and the City | September 1-30

San Francisco is home to some of the most intricately designed and established architecture throughout the United States. Whether it’s a historically built Victorian home with its unique personality and charm, or a modern skyscraper springing up from the Financial District, each building has its own story to tell in this eclectic city.

So it should come as no surprise to locals that San Francisco, the hub of architecture, hosts the annual Architecture and the City Festival each year. And lucky for you, the festival returns this month in full force with behind the scenes walking tours, lectures, films exhibitions and more that address different aspects of the design and planning process and truly bring the city’s architecture to life. The theme for this year’s festival is “Play: Design in Action,” where the community will examine “play as a dynamic and essential element of the creative process for design arts, explore how it is employed by San Francisco’s design community and discuss how it can be applied to other fields (health, education, economic development).”

Presented by AIA San Francisco and the Center for Architecture   Design, this month-long celebration is a great opportunity for guests to converse with San Francisco’s diverse architectural community and dive into the city’s very own world of design. This event is truly made up of the stuff that architects dream about, so don’t miss out; attend one of their special events now until September 30.
