Here’s a look at just a few of the festivities available throughout the city to help you celebrate this holiday season:

Illuminate SF
Location: Throughout San Francisco
When: Now Through January 2016
Presented by San Francisco Travel, Illuminate SF sets San Francisco aglow this holiday season with 27 public artwork displays and a variety of special events. Head over to illuminatesf.com to view a map for the self-guided tour and to learn more about the special events, which include a cable car tour, walking tour and bike tour.

‘Tis the Season for Science
Location: Academy of Sciences
When: Now Through January 3, 2015
It’s snowing at the Academy of Sciences! Bring your children – or indulge your inner child – and head to the Academy of Sciences for ‘Tis the Season for Science when the Academy transforms into a floor-to-ceiling winter wonderland, complete with snow flurries, caroling, festive programs, and Willow and Yukon—a pair of live, six-year-old reindeer.

Holiday Teas (several locations)
Location: Westin St. Francis, Palace Hotel, Secret Garden Tea House, Top of the Mark, Ritz Carlton
When: Throughout December
Many hotels and special locations are hosting festive and elegant holiday teas, complete with delicious menus of sandwiches and pastries. There are also a variety of children-oriented teas with Santa and Teddy Bears. Reservations are highly recommended, so please be sure to book early.

Nutcracker Under the Dome
Location: Westfield SF Centre
When: Now until December 31 | 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm, every 30 minutes
The six-minute long light spectacular Nutcracker Under the Dome is inspired by the San Francisco Ballet’s production and integrates performance footage into a magical holiday experience for shoppers and visitors of all ages. 

Holiday Ice Rink
Location: Union Square Park
When: 10:00 am to 11:30 pm daily through January 18
Enjoy festive cheer and fun throughout the Holiday season at the annual Holiday Ice Rink in San Francisco Tickets are $11 for adults, $7 for children under eight and skate rentals are $6.

Macy’s SPCA Holiday Windows
Location: Macy’s Union Square
When: All day through January 3
It’s puppy time! Macy’s has unveiled their oh-so-adorable holiday windows, complete with adoptable SPCA puppies and kittens in dazzling holiday surroundings.
