Fleet Week in San Francisco

The 35th Annual San Francisco Fleet Week is here, which means it’s time to celebrate and honor the men and women of our nation’s armed forces—SF-style. From October 5-12, San Francisco will host an impressive array of events including an air show, military displays, ship tours, parades, live music, delicious food presented by Off the Grid and more!

Here’s a look at some of the “don’t miss” events and highlights at this year’s San Francisco Fleet Week:

1. Air Shows—You can’t have Fleet Week without a series of exhilarating air shows. The United States Navy Leap Frogs will be the first of the air show line up to make an appearance from the sky as they parachute down and put on a breathtaking display. The United States Navy Blue Angels will also be in attendance to put on what’s promised to be an amazing performance. Other performers include United Airlines, the Patriots Jet team, ERAU, Sean D. Tucker and Oracle, and more! Click here to see the complete air show schedule.

2. Ships—This year, Fleet Week is giving visitors a glimpse into the day-to-day lives of sailors serving the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard and Canadian Navy by welcoming them aboard destroyers, cruisers and amphibious carriers docked at the Embarcadero for sailor-guided tours. Plan your ship tours here.

3. Fleet Fest—Visitors can also enjoy two full-days of live music, a beer garden and delicious food from ten local food trucks in honor of Off the Grid’s first Fleet Week Food Fest. Fleet Week Food Fest will take place from October 10-11 at Pier 80 to compliment four pier-side United States Navy and Coast Guard ships for open tours. In addition to food, music and fun, the public will also get the rare chance to celebrate and salute visiting service members on the grounds.

4. Humanitarian Village—Ever wonder what would happen to our world if a sudden disaster were to strike? Then you owe it to yourself to check out the Humanitarian Village—an interactive demonstration of U.S. Military and Civil capabilities in responding to natural and man-made catastrophes. The 2015 Village will include an educational program that covers four main capabilities including Mass Care and Shelter, Power and Utilities, Community Response and Rescue and Environmental Management and Decontamination. 5. Bark at the Park—Humans won’t be the only celebrated heroes of the week. Fleet Week will also be honoring man’s best friend on Saturday, October 10, from 10 am to 1 pm in a public safety canine demo and event. Visitors can watch and learn about working with canines from the U.S. Marines, Navy, San Francisco Police, Sheriffs, Fire Department, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and more.
