Monterey Heights is situated on the western slope of Mount Davidson. Stately homes with larger yards, front and back, characterize Monterey Heights, giving it a slightly affluent suburban feel, particularly those on Rosewood Avenue. Many of the homes are quite majestic, although there is a large spectrum of styles and sizes. Immediately southwest of Twin Peaks, this segment is nestled near St. Francis Wood, Sherwood Forest and Westwood Highlands. There is an active neighborhood association that even includes a "welcome committee" for new residents as well as social and edifying activities. This primarily quiet residential neighborhood has few retail or commercial outlets, which only lends to its quaint and charming character.
