SF Gate - Rooms With A View

Rooms w/a vu: It was "An Evening to Remember" out on the Gold Coast when Gladyne K. Mitchell hosted a fundraiser for Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the San Francisco Foundation in her 1927 Italianate palazzo, now for sale. The house is a favorite on this stretch of Broadway, and guests clamored for the $1K tickets to support a good cause and a peek inside, staged by local designers. Event co-chairs (and coincidentally real estate agents) Connie Heldman, Dona Crowder and Peggy Economos describe the property (four stories, tennis court, original fixtures) as priceless. As such, no price is listed. But insiders guesstimate $20-$75 mil. Some whisper that a first bid of $25 million was turned down, so now's your chance. 1 Gladyne Mitchell. 2 From left: Matt Paige, Josie Howard, Laney Thornton, Dorothy Paige and her husband, event co-chair Ken Paige. 3 Boys & Girls Clubs National 2006 Talent winners, the Elliott Family String Quartet (from left): Justine Elliott with (from left) dad Garth Elliott and fellow musicians mom Danielle Weems-Elliott and brothers Brendon and Sterling Elliott. 4 From left: Crowder, William Fries and Jane Rees. 5 Honorary Committee members (from left): Mimi and Dan Kingsley, Carrie Schwab Pomerantz and husband Gary Pomerantz. 6 Designer and home stager Bob Federighi and his wife, Toni Wolfson. 7 Benjamin Swig and his grandmother, Cissie Swig. 8 Ann Getty Associates' Beth Townsend, niece of designer and co-host Ann Getty. 9 Anne Witter (left) and Jamie Bowles. 10 Geoff and Hilary Newsom Callan. 11 Soprano Barbara Payha (left) with benefactors Angela and Shu Kai Chan. 12 Boys Club members (from left): Sam Cline-Webb, Karim Biaye and Hugo Lopez.
