Welcoming the Fall Season on the Right Note with the San Francisco Opera and Symphony

Fall is almost here and you know what that means…it’s officially time to soak in the beautiful melodies of the San Francisco Opera and Symphony.

First to launch into their fall season is the San Francisco Opera with their annual Opera in the Park event, set to take place on Sunday, September 13 at 1:30 pm. Join fellow music lovers at Sharon Meadows in Golden Gate Park to enjoy this free performance and a preview of what’s to come this fall season. Just be sure to arrive early and claim a good viewing spot as this popular event typically draws in about 20,000  listeners.

Other anticipated performances for this year’s season at the San Francisco Opera include musical thriller “Sweeny Todd,” starring Brian Mulligan with orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick, the gut-wrenching tragedy “Luisa Miller,” starring Leah Crocetto and Michael Fabiano with music director Nicola Luisotti and an enchanting performance of Mozart’s “The Magic Flute,” with performances by the expressive Paul Appleby, the delightful Nadine Sierra and the dazzling Albina Shagimuratova. Next to launch is the San Francisco Symphony with this year’s performances expected to please all musical tastes—from pianist extraordinaire Yuja Wang’s rendition of Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 to a breathtaking performance of Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony. The symphony will also be bringing classic movies to the big screen for an unforgettable combination of film and accompanied music. Such films include The Nightmare Before Christmas, It’s a Wonderful Life, Vertigo and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial.
